Qualifications
Dr. Paul Tippet, MD
Dr. Paul Tippet was born in 1956 in Connecticut. He graduated North Haven High School in
1974, and was among the top ten students of over 400 in his graduating class and a
National Merit Scholar. He attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT., graduating
with cum laude honors in 1978, majoring in biology. He attended the University of
Pittsburgh School of Medicine from 1978-1982. It was during his fourth year of medical
school that he completed an intense rotation in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
at Magee-Women's Hospital under Dr. David Archer. The involvement in patient care,
surgery, laboratory procedures, and research ignited his interest in the subspecialty.
Dr. Tippet completed a 4-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1986. As Chief Resident his 4th year, he was presented with The Chairman's Award "in recognition of overall academic and clinical excellence as Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology". He completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1988. His training emphasis was in clinical infertility, working within a large infertility practice. He helped integrate transvaginal ultrasound into ovulation induction protocols, and developed protocols for intrauterine insemination. His surgical training was heavy in tubal microsurgery and laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis. His research was completed at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Tippet is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, passing his boards in 1990, and recertified in 2000. He is board eligible in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, passing his written Boards in 1988 and again in 1996. He is a member of The American Society of Reproductive Medicine, The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, and many other professional societies.
He has been married to his wife Christy for 25 years. They have a daughter, Kelly age 23, and a son, Bryan, age 19. His interests include gardening/landscaping, investing, and golf. He played rugby for 8 years - in college and in medical school with the Pittsburgh Harlequins.
